Speech Bubbles Tutorial
MS-Paint Friendly
Ever wonder how to make nice looking speech bubbles in MS Paint? This quick tutorial will show you how I make my speech bubbles. This style is what I've used since Team STK #14, and is saves the most space while still being effective. We'll start with the base frame here.

In Paint, enlarge your frame image (do this by dragging the small square in the middle left of your image's border) so you have enough work space. Next, draw your text box where you want the speech bubble to appear. Drag the border or the text box over to your work area, then type the words your character will be saying, as so.

Next, we will center the text. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T CLICK OUTSIDE THE TEXT BOX! All you usually have to do is use spaces to center the text in the box. It's a matter of visual perspective, really. If you are satisfied, click outside the text box, and proceed to something that look slike this:

Use the rounded rectangle tool to border the text, then select a new background color (right click the color you wish to use; it should appear as shown in the next image). Fill in your workspace with that color.

Making sure the option shown below is selected, move the speech bubble into its proper position in the frame. Reduce the size of your image back to the size of the frame.

Now it's time for the tail. Using the line tool, draw two lines connected to each other from the main part of the bubble, pointing them towards the speaking character (It's best to zoom in while doing this). Fill them in with the color of your bubble. Depending on the complexity of your background, you can either use the fill tool or the line tool, as you see fit.

And you're done! Wasn't that easy? Here's the finished frame:
